Bengaluru Matrimony-Fraud Suspect Arrested in Rs 1.5-1.75 Crore Cheating Case

Investigators say he concealed his marriage by presenting his wife as his sister.

  • Kengeri police arrested 32-year-old civil engineer Vijesh B, also known as Vijay Raj Gowda, on January 19 following a complaint by a 29-year-old software engineer.
  • An FIR was registered on January 6 under BNS provisions for cheating, criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and intimidation, with the case moved from Whitefield to Kengeri.
  • Police records state roughly Rs 1.75 crore was collected through multiple bank accounts and only about Rs 22 lakh was returned.
  • The complaint says the pair met on a matrimonial site in March 2024, the suspect claimed assets worth Rs 715 crore and a business called VRG Enterprises, and he cited an ED case and court papers to explain delays.
  • Officers are examining possible roles of his wife, Soumya, and father, Boregowda, as the victim alleges she was coerced into loans and that friends and relatives were drawn into investments.
