Bengaluru Airport Hits 44.47 Million Passengers on Surging International Travel

BIAL credits new routes, smoother transfers, stronger cargo links.

Overview

  • BIAL disclosed Thursday it handled 44.47 million passengers in 2025–26, led by a 23.9% jump in international flyers to 7.23 million, and said the late‑February West Asia conflict had only a limited impact on the year’s totals.
  • Domestic travel rose 3.3% to 37.24 million, taking overall passenger growth to 6.2% for the year.
  • Transfers grew 22% after the Connections by BLR program eased flight‑to‑flight moves, with international transfers up by more than 50%.
  • Airlines increased frequencies on key routes and added new international links to Hanoi and Riyadh, extending Bengaluru’s reach to more hubs.
  • Operations and cargo also scaled up, with 280,800 flight movements, a single‑day record of 139,111 passengers, and 532,000 tonnes moved by 15 cargo airlines supported by the new AISATS BLR Logistics Park.
