Bell Launches 5G+ Advanced Across GTHA, Expands Into Niagara

The upgrade runs on a standalone 5G core with new spectrum to promise lower latency at up to 4.3 Gbps.

Overview

  • Service is live across Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Markham, Vaughan and Oakville, with additional coverage in Richmond Hill, Burlington, Oshawa, Whitby, St. Catharines, Milton, Ajax, Pickering, Grimsby, Thorold and Niagara Falls.
  • Access requires specific phones with current software, including Apple’s iPhone 16 and 17 series, Samsung’s Galaxy S24 and S25 lines plus Flip/Fold 6 and 7, and Google’s Pixel 9 and 10 series.
  • Eligible handsets will display a 5G+ Advanced badge in Bell stores and online so customers can identify compatible models.
  • Bell positions the network for high‑bandwidth uses such as mobile gaming and high‑definition video chat while framing it as groundwork for future 6G development.
  • The launch follows Bell’s late‑December 3800MHz deployment that produced up to 3.64 Gbps and recent Speedtest data showing Bell leading rivals, as the company continues to face criticism over workforce reductions.
