The project underscores Bell’s plan to build domestic GPU capacity for Canadian AI work.

Overview

  • Bell and Buzz HPC announced a new Bell AI Fabric site in Merritt, British Columbia, which Bell says will begin operations in the coming weeks.
  • Buzz HPC has secured 6.5 megawatts of compute at the facility with the option to add more power later.
  • Bell calls the Merritt site the next step in its AI Fabric supercluster to give Canadian organizations high-performance computing while keeping data in country.
  • The Merritt facility is one of six new data centres Bell plans to add in B.C. as part of last year’s AI Fabric expansion.
  • MobileSyrup notes Bell also announced a separate 300 MW data centre in rural Saskatchewan earlier this month.
