Overview
- Police found a man with severe trauma near Boylston and Tremont just after 5 a.m. Wednesday; the victim was taken to Tufts Medical Center and was identified Friday as Jonathan Sanon, 35, of Norwood.
- Hours later, officers responded to an assault near Beach Street where a person was struck from behind with a metal pole and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
- Homicide detectives linked both morning attacks to 27-year-old Ashlie Jeremie of Bedford, who was arrested nearby and charged with murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and larceny.
- Jeremie was held without bail at arraignment and ordered to undergo a 20-day competency and mental health evaluation at Bridgewater State Hospital after a court psychologist noted a diagnosis of bipolar disorder with psychotic features and said he refused to cooperate with screening.
- Investigators collected and photographed scene evidence including a pool of blood, a brick, shoes and a broken plank, temporarily closed the Boylston Green Line stop while processing the scene, and continue to probe motive and seek public tips as city leaders push for renewed safety measures.
