Bed Bath & Beyond Reopens 22 Co-Branded Stores With The Container Store

The new stores mix Bed Bath & Beyond home goods with The Container Store’s organization services to create a one-stop shopping format and begin a phased return to physical retail.

Overview

  • Bed Bath & Beyond opened the first phase of 22 Bed Bath & Beyond + The Container Store locations, which began welcoming customers on Thursday and include stores in cities such as New York, Chicago, Miami and Los Angeles suburbs.
  • Each co-branded location brings together bedding, bath, kitchen and other home essentials with The Container Store’s storage products, custom-space design and in-home services to let customers plan and buy whole home projects in one place.
  • Marcus Lemonis, the company’s executive chairman and CEO, said the format responds to customer demand for integrated project-based shopping rather than visiting multiple specialty retailers.
  • The relaunch follows Bed Bath & Beyond’s 2023 Chapter 11 filing and a series of asset moves: Overstock.com bought the brand’s intellectual property for an online relaunch and the company later converted some acquired Brand House Collective (formerly Kirkland’s) sites into physical Bed Bath & Beyond stores.
  • Shoppers will see near-term promotional moves such as a temporary acceptance of old Bed Bath & Beyond coupons and a contest for the oldest coupon, and analysts say the next milestones to watch are the speed of the phased rollout, early sales at the new locations and how well the co-branded services are delivered.
