Overview
- On Wednesday, August 26, 2026 the Beatles made public a previously unreleased 'Day Tripper (Songwriting Work Tape)' that captures John Lennon and Paul McCartney developing the song.
- The tape was recorded at Lennon’s Kenwood home during the Rubber Soul era and shows the song as a folk idea with the famous riff not yet written.
- The recording will appear on the Rubber Soul Special Edition due October 2, 2026 which includes new stereo and Dolby Atmos mixes by Giles Martin and Sam Okell and box-set options up to a 68-track Super Deluxe.
- Apple Corps and Universal Music Group have formalized expanded commercial arrangements that place UMG in charge of global Beatles merchandise, licensing and e-commerce and plan public projects such as a 3 Savile Row fan experience and a Sam Mendes film series.
- For fans the drop offers new access to the Beatles’ creative process and for the band’s brand the tape helps drive catalog reissues, collector sales, licensing deals and live visitor experiences.
