Overview
- The Banco Central de la República Argentina posted an official table and online comparator this Friday, July 17, listing the 30-day peso fixed-term rates each bank reported.
- Large incumbent banks typically quote TNAs in the mid-teens to high-teens around 16%–19% while smaller or specialty lenders advertise much higher TNAs often above 21%–23%.
- Banks frequently pay higher rates for fixed deposits opened via home banking or mobile apps than for in-branch operations, a gap that can change a depositor’s 30-day nominal gain by thousands of pesos on large balances.
- Dollar 30-day fixed deposits now yield almost no short-term return, with Banco Nación offering about 1.6% TNA and a $2,400 deposit earning roughly $3 over 30 days.
- Since the BCRA removed a minimum-rate floor in 2024, banks set rates commercially which has increased dispersion, made channel choice more consequential for savers, and kept the BCRA comparator a key tool for comparing offers.
