BCCI Fails to Secure Home Title Sponsor After Raising Per‑Match Price

A raised reserve price of about INR 4.75–4.85 crore per match has reduced bidder interest, prompting BCCI to enter direct talks with a small set of potential partners.

Overview

  • BCCI has not finalised a new title sponsor for India’s home matches because either no bids arrived or offers fell short of expectations after the bid window closed on August 13.
  • The board set a reserve price around INR 4.75–4.85 crore per match, roughly 15% above the INR 4.2 crore per match IDFC First Bank paid, and that higher base price is being cited as the main reason for weak demand.
  • The tender covers a two‑year term to March 31, 2028, and the ITT estimates about 35 chargeable home matches in that period, which implies roughly INR 171 crore in title revenue if the base price is met.
  • Several agencies bought the ITT document and BCCI is holding direct talks with brands reported to include Google Gemini, Spinny and SBI Life while running a separate RFQ for associate partner rights that depends on a title deal.
  • The board faces a short window to conclude a deal before the West Indies tour starting September 27, and the outcome will determine how associate rights are packaged and how much commercial revenue the home season yields.
