BCB Charges BPL Figures Over Betting, Issues Suspensions and a Global Ban

The action opens a wider crackdown as investigators continue active BPL cases.

Overview

  • The Bangladesh Cricket Board, which announced charges Thursday, provisionally suspended four participants and gave them 14 days to answer the allegations.
  • Domestic player Amit Mojumder and team manager Rezwan Kabir Siddique were charged with placing or entering bets on matches, while franchise co-owner Md. Towhidul Haque Towhid and team manager Md. Lablur Rahman were accused of obstructing the probe by failing to cooperate and hiding communications.
  • Saminur Rahman accepted an Exclusion Order that bars him from any cricket activity worldwide after investigators reviewed conduct across earlier BPL seasons.
  • Alex Marshall, the Integrity Unit’s independent chair, said investigators found irrefutable evidence of long-term corrupt activity by one person, including match-fixing and money transfers with foreign bookmakers.
  • The BPL is Bangladesh’s franchise T20 league and these are the Integrity Unit’s first completed cases since its launch in November 2025, with the board indicating more charges are likely as inquiries continue.
