B.C. Raises Vancouver World Cup Cost Range to $685–$729 Million

Federal grants plus higher revenue projections lower the expected public bill to roughly $114 million with final reconciliation set for spring 2027.

  • The provincial briefing on May 29, 2026 updated gross core and essential hosting costs for seven Vancouver matches to $685 million–$729 million after finalizing BC Place upgrades, Fan Festival plans and security requirements.
  • After counting projected revenues of $595 million–$615 million and federal contributions, the province says the net provincial and municipal hosting cost will be about $114 million.
  • Security and public-safety expenses are estimated at $242 million and will be offset by a $100 million federal commitment from Public Safety Canada.
