Overview
- The BBC released a teaser trailer on Monday and confirmed that two episodes of Vigil Season 3 will be available on iPlayer from Aug. 30 with further episodes airing at 9 p.m. on BBC One on Sundays and Mondays.
- Season 3 follows DCI Amy Silva and DI Kirsten Longacre as they investigate the shooting of a covert British special forces member at a remote Arctic research station and work to prevent a possible international confrontation over access to Arctic resources.
- Filming took place on location in Svalbard, Norway, and in Scotland, and the series returns Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie with Dominic Mafham reprising his role and new cast members joining the roster.
- The six-part season is produced by World Productions with ITV Studios handling international distribution, written by Tom Edge and directed by Gareth Bryn and Faye Gilbert.
- Vigil arrives with established audience and awards pedigree—Season 1 won an International Emmy and Season 2 drew top BBC ratings—which helps set expectations for global pickup and streaming availability beyond the U.K.
