Overview
- The BBC and BritBox announced the full principal cast on Tuesday, adding Henry Ashton, James D’Arcy, Calvin Demba, Phil Dunning, Jack Gleeson, Tamsin Greig, James Nesbitt, Guy Remmers, Rebecca Rittenhouse and Mawaan Rizwan to Edward Bluemel’s lead role as a young Hercule Poirot.
- Hercule is a six-episode series of 60-minute instalments that will adapt three of Agatha Christie’s early Poirot stories and dramatise Poirot’s formative relationships, including figures identified as Captain Hastings, Inspector Japp and a named nemesis.
- Writer Benji Walters is the series adapter and lead creative, with Jonny Campbell directing the first two episodes and Chanya Button and Alrick Riley each directing two of the remaining episodes; Charlie Palmer is series producer.
- Filming is due to begin imminently, with production based primarily in Liverpool, and the show will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the U.K. and on BritBox in North America in 2027.
- Mammoth Screen and Agatha Christie Limited are producing the drama, with Fifth Season handling global distribution, a setup that positions Hercule as a prestige, widely marketed reimagining within the long history of Poirot screen adaptations.
