Bavarian Entrepreneur Sentenced to 5 Years, 10 Months for €10.7 Million Tax Evasion in Mask Deal

The judgment is not yet final.

Overview

  • Landgericht München II convicted the 39-year-old of nine counts of tax evasion, illegal firearm possession and obtaining false official documents.
  • Judges found he routed a €22 million 2020 sale of five million FFP2 masks to the Federal Health Ministry through a Swiss mailbox company while running the business from Gauting.
  • The court determined he underpaid about €10.7 million in taxes, including €9.1 million in corporate taxes and €1.6 million in personal taxes.
  • At his May 2025 arrest in the Allgäu he presented a São Tomé and Príncipe diplomatic passport; police found a loaded Smith & Wesson revolver with 82 rounds and two forged Slovenian IDs.
  • The court rejected any claim of diplomatic immunity, ordered recovery of the evaded taxes and noted the sentence followed a plea agreement and confession.
