Battlefield 6 Season 2 Goes Live Worldwide With Contaminated Map and Psychoactive Gas

Developers say internal changes will prevent repeat delays following the monthlong slip.

Overview

  • The Extreme Measures phase launched globally at 12:00 UTC (7 a.m. EST) on February 17 across all platforms with a simultaneous rollout.
  • Launch content includes the Contaminated map featuring VL-7 hallucinogenic smoke, three weapons (GRT-CPS DMR, VCR-2 assault rifle, M121 A2 LMG), two gadgets (HTI-MK2, 9K38 IGLA), and the returning AH-6 Little Bird scout helicopter.
  • Limited-time modes debut with VL-7 Strike in multiplayer and REDSEC additions Gauntlet: Altered State and Battle Royale: Synthesis.
  • Season 2 proceeds in three phases, with Nightfall on March 17 adding the Hagental Base infantry map and gear, and Hunter/Prey on April 14 introducing Operation Augur, an LTV, and the Kapok 14" machete.
  • Producer Phil Girette attributed the delay to polish and said process changes are in place to keep future schedules, as early hands-on reports praise the VL-7 mechanic but note familiar map design and some weapon tuning concerns amid efforts to re-engage lapsed players.
