Battlefield 6 Reworks Gunplay and Damage Ahead of June 30 Update

Battlefield Studios says the changes aim to make weapons more predictable and to force more careful long‑range play through tighter recoil, range and damage rules.

Overview

  • Battlefield Studios published a combat deep dive on Friday describing Update 1.3.3.0, which the developer plans to ship with the Season 3 patch on June 30.
  • Recoil has been normalized across dozens of automatic primary weapons to make spray patterns more consistent and easier to learn, while post‑first‑shot bullet deviation and muzzle velocity tweaks will discourage sustained full‑auto fire at long range.
  • Body hitbox multipliers for limbs and lower torso are reduced for almost all weapon classes so hits to extremities usually add about one extra shot to kill, while automatic‑weapon headshot multipliers were nudged up and can be boosted further by Hollow Point or Synthetic Tip ammo.
  • Sniper rifles will have narrower one‑shot 'sweet spot' ranges, with examples including the SV‑98 down to 54–75m and the M2010 ESR to 75–100m, which will tighten where snipers can reliably secure instant kills.
  • All changes were tested in Battlefield Labs and will be monitored after release for further tuning as Season 4 approaches and larger naval maps enter testing, which could prompt additional balance updates.
