Overview
- The Top Gun crossover goes live on Tuesday, August 18, bringing carrier-focused gameplay, new aircraft, themed skins, and the rebuilt Wake Island map to Battlefield 6.
- EA and DICE will offer a free REDSEC trial from August 18–25 that includes the Top Gun modes and maps and carries all progress over to purchased copies while REDSEC remains free to play afterward.
- The update adds two new two-seat fighter jets, the F/A-81F Super Spectre and the F-74A Seacat, for partnered dogfights and carrier launches.
- Two limited-time modes — Carrier Strike (air-to-sea combat) and Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep (white-knuckle dogfights) — arrive with Top Gun character soldier skins including Rooster, Bob Floyd, and Warlock while Maverick is not offered as a playable skin.
- Outlets report the game patch preload and full patch notes are expected around August 17, and the crossover is part of Battlefield 6’s live-service roadmap with Season 5 billed as the final major 2026 seasonal drop even as DICE says some post-season support will continue.
