Basque Cultural Push Intensifies With Semifinals, Youth Contests and Author Events

Public bodies are coordinating contests, virtual access and live shows to boost Basque-language engagement as key dates open for reservations and voting.

Overview

  • Euskararen Etxea has opened reservations for guided virtual visits to the Euskararen Interpretazio Zentro for schools and groups starting November 3, bookable by phone.
  • The Bizkaiko Bertsolari Txapelketa moves into its semifinal phase this weekend, beginning Sunday at 17:00 in Zeanuri, with 18 singers across three sessions and a final set for December 20 at La Casilla.
  • The Arnasa Gara ‘Arnasetik’ youth video contest accepts entries through October 31, with public voting scheduled for November 5–15 and backing from UEMA and the Basque and Navarre governments.
  • National prize winner Leire Bilbao will lead a guided literary walk in Ondarroa on November 1 within the municipally organized Literatur Amuak program, which includes talks, awards and music.
  • ETB’s youth series Go!azen will premiere its 12th season in Zumaia on November 9 with a free, invitation-only screening, with invitations available online from October 29 and six new characters joining the cast.
