- Base Power announced Monday that it closed a $1 billion Series D at a $13 billion post-money valuation and launched the Base Core home battery, which is now rolling off its Austin Factory 1.
- Base Core is offered in 39.2 kWh and 78.4 kWh configurations and is marketed for long-duration home backup with features the company cites such as rapid 50 ms transfer, LFP chemistry, wide temperature tolerance, and an IP67 rating.
- The company says its deployed fleet has grown to more than 500 MWh across Texas and Illinois and that installation crews are averaging about 100 systems per day with a plan to increase that pace.
- Base sells batteries through a subscription model in which it retains ownership, charges low up-front and monthly fees, and aggregates stored energy to sell back to utilities via programs with Austin Energy, El Paso Electric and CoServ.
- The raise and product launch come as U.S. electricity demand rises and residential storage gains traction, meaning wider domestic manufacture and thousands of networked home batteries could provide both outage protection for households and flexible capacity for strained local grids.
