Overview
- FC Barcelona formally constituted the Junta Electoral and the Mesa Electoral to oversee the presidential election scheduled for March 15, 2026.
- Juan Ignacio Soler-Cabot Serra was selected to lead the Junta Electoral, which will adjudicate the census, certify candidacies and, with the Mesa, publish results on election night.
- Four aspirants—Joan Laporta, Víctor Font, Xavier Vilajoana and Marc Ciria—have registered as precandidates and begun collecting the 2,337 member signatures required to qualify.
- By statute the club provides 4,674 signature sheets free to each precandidate, while reported additional requests include Font with 50,000, Vilajoana with 30,000 and Ciria with 10,000, with differing reports putting Laporta’s request at either 60,000 or 100,000.
- The signature submission cutoff is reported inconsistently—either March 2 at 21:00 or March 3—while voting is expected to be in person only, unlike the postal option used in 2021.
