Overview
- In late May the bank began rolling out a mobile update that enables interbank SPEI transfers and the Banco de México payment tools CoDi and DiMo for users who update and register.
- To activate the functions users must update the official app, register with their card number, NIP and phone, create a password, and wait up to 48 hours for transfers to be enabled.
- The app allows 24/7 transfers to most Mexican banks but limits transfers from the app to 1,500 pesos per day as an anti-fraud measure.
- The rollout is phased across Android and iPhone so some beneficiaries do not yet see the new options, prompting urgent bank guidance to download only the official app and never share NIP or passwords.
- Officials present the change as part of the 2025–2030 financial inclusion drive to cut branch congestion and cash dependence, though experts warn the digital divide among older and rural users will affect uptake.
