Baltic Power Supplies First Offshore Wind Electricity to Poland's Grid

Partial energisation shows the 1.1–1.2 GW farm is entering staged commissioning pending completion of installations, inspections, Energy Regulatory Office licensing later in 2026.

  • Polskie Sieci Energetyczne confirmed that Baltic Power has delivered 'first power' from its offshore turbines to the onshore Choczewo substation, marking the initial feed of wind-generated electricity into Poland's grid.
  • The project is a 49/51 joint venture between Canada’s Northland Power and Poland’s ORLEN and is designed for roughly 1.1–1.2 GW of capacity and about 4 TWh of annual output once fully online.
  • Technical build: the farm will use 76 Vestas 15 MW turbines, two offshore substations and more than 350 km of internal and export cables that connect into the completed Choczewo onshore hub.
