Overview

  • Baldur's Gate 3, which gained Xbox Play Anywhere support on Monday, allows digital Xbox purchasers to access the game on Xbox consoles, Windows PCs, and supported handhelds without buying it again.
  • The Play Anywhere update carries over cloud saves, game progress, and Xbox achievements between supported devices so players can pick up where they left off on another Microsoft platform.
  • The feature applies only to digital ownership and does not extend to players who bought physical discs or to PlayStation 5 users because the program is limited to Microsoft's ecosystem.
  • Larian Studios has finished internal development on Baldur's Gate 3 and moved on to its next project, but the franchise continues to expand through third-party tie-ins such as a T. Kingfisher prequel novel, a Dark Horse comic, and an HBO series in development.
