Bakkavor Recalls Pizzas and Focaccia in 10 States Over Possible Metal Fragments

The FDA says the risk is limited to temporary or reversible harm.

Overview

  • Bakkavor recalled more than 25,000 cases of ready-to-eat focaccia and HelloFresh pizzas after possible metal was found, and the recall remains active.
  • The company initiated the recall on Jan. 19, and the FDA classified it as a Class II recall on March 23.
  • About 23,459 cases of roasted tomato and Parmesan focaccia under Trader Joe’s, Frederik’s by Meijer, Harris Teeter, and Fresh & Simple were pulled, along with 2,337 cases of HelloFresh Basil Pesto & Mozzarella Pizza.
  • The items were sold in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, Texas, and Virginia, and some were shipped directly to customers through HelloFresh.
  • Investigators traced the problem to slow-roasted tomatoes from a supplier, consumers are urged to throw out or return listed lot numbers with use-by dates from April 27 through Oct. 15, 2026, and no injuries have been reported so far.
