BAE Systems Workers in Lancashire Win Above-Inflation Deal Ending Strikes

Unite credits picket-line solidarity for the breakthrough.

Overview

  • The settlement ends months of industrial action by thousands of Unite-represented staff at BAE’s Warton and Samlesbury sites.
  • Staff receive a 4.8% pay award backdated to 1 January plus a further 0.75% from 1 October 2026, an extra day of annual leave for all staff with a further day for Unite members, a £500 one-off payment, and a daily half-hour earlier finish.
  • Walkouts in December, January and February followed complaints that local pay trailed awards given to colleagues elsewhere in the company.
  • BAE sought to limit the strikes through the High Court before the agreement was reached.
  • The company said it was pleased with the deal and stressed its workforce’s role in supporting UK combat air capability, with the sites producing components for Typhoon and F-35 aircraft.
