BAE Systems to Supply EPAWSS for South Korea’s F-15K Fleet

The contract installs a full-rate 360-degree electronic warfare suite to keep 59 F-15Ks combat-relevant for operations with U.S. forces.

Overview

  • Boeing awarded BAE Systems a contract to deliver the AN/ALQ-250 EPAWSS for the Republic of Korea Air Force’s 59 F-15K Slam Eagles, an award first announced Monday, July 13, 2026.
  • EPAWSS is an all-digital electronic warfare system that gives pilots 360-degree threat detection, radio-frequency geolocation, and automatic countermeasures such as chaff and flares to improve survivability in signal-dense airspace.
  • The EPAWSS award is part of a larger DAPA-led FMS modernization estimated at roughly $3.1 billion that adds AESA radars, Advanced Display Core Processor II mission computers, and missile-warning sensors with first upgraded F-15K+ jets expected by late 2028.
  • EPAWSS is already in full-rate production and has been fielded on U.S. F-15EX and retrofitted F-15E aircraft, which reduces technical risk and speeds integration for the ROKAF upgrades.
  • Upgrading the F-15K fleet preserves South Korea’s long-range strike capacity, improves interoperability with U.S. forces and F-35s, and includes manufacture of EPAWSS units at BAE facilities in Nashua, New Hampshire, and Austin, Texas.
