Overview
- An overhead equipment (OHE) fault between Dadar and Churchgate on Friday stalled trains from about 6:00 am and services were briefly suspended again after a point failure at Churchgate around 8:00–8:10 am.
- Technical teams restored both faults and services were progressively normalised, but many local and fast trains ran about 10–20 minutes late through the morning peak.
- Commuters reported little or no public announcements and slow updates on official channels, which left large numbers stranded on platforms or switching to the Mumbai Metro.
- Western Railway has said it will deploy marshals at selected busy stations during peak hours to ensure timely closing of AC local doors and to ease overcrowding that slows departures.
- The Churchgate–Virar corridor carries tens of lakhs of daily riders so even short infrastructure failures cause widespread disruption, and officials face pressure to improve real-time passenger information systems.
