Baby Threatened with Broken Glass in Belfast City Centre Carjacking

Police are seeking footage to identify two suspects after recovering the white Vauxhall Agila.

Overview

  • The incident unfolded at about 3.50am on Donegall Place after a delivery driver stepped out of his car, leaving his partner and young baby in the rear.
  • Two men approached the vehicle, with one getting into the driver’s seat and driving off as the second appeared to try to stop him.
  • Close to Fountain Lane, the driver held what the mother believed was a broken bottle or piece of glass to the baby’s head and ordered her to leave the car with the child.
  • The vehicle was then driven towards City Hall and onto Chichester Street before being recovered in Upper Stanfield Street.
  • PSNI described the ordeal as absolutely shocking, said the victims were shaken but uninjured, and appealed for witnesses or CCTV/dashcam footage via 101 quoting reference 211 25/10/25 or through online and Crimestoppers reporting.
