Overview
- The Azeempura Flyover was inaugurated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and opened to traffic on Sunday, creating a new direct link to Jinnah International Airport from Shahrah-e-Bhutto and Shah Faisal.
- Officials say the Rs1.562 billion scheme was delivered by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation with Sindh Local Government Department funding and completed in a record 90 days, ten days ahead of the 100‑day target.
- The works include a 700‑metre dual carriage flyover, 1,255 metres of main dual carriageway, 2,075 metres of drain rehabilitation, 850 metres of footpaths, a redesigned roundabout, median barriers and a street‑lighting system with 93 poles and 157 fixtures.
- Provincial leaders and the KMC expect the corridor to ease severe congestion at the Azeempura intersection and shorten travel times for commuters from Korangi, Malir and Shah Faisal travelling to the airport.
- The opening forms part of a string of fast‑delivered urban projects by the Sindh government and comes as officials press the federal government for additional allocations and note the province is funding K‑IV augmentation and other works with provincial and donor support.
