Avon Man Charged in Raynham Crash That Killed Motorcyclist

Prosecutors say the driver's suspended license from a prior OUI case and scene evidence are central to the pending homicide and traffic charges.

Overview

  • A collision between a Harley-Davidson and a white Ford Explorer on Friday evening left 52-year-old Scott Piche of New Bedford dead and prompted a criminal probe.
  • Police found Piche with serious injuries at the intersection of South East Street and Hill Street and he was later pronounced dead at Morton Hospital.
  • Twenty-two-year-old Jacob Larsen of Avon remained at the scene and has been arrested on charges that include motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, operating with a license suspended for OUI, marked lanes violation, and failure to yield.
  • Investigators noted the motorcycle was in the northbound lanes of South East Street and the Explorer was in the westbound lanes of Hill Street facing east, details now used in the crash reconstruction.
  • Larsen is scheduled for arraignment Monday in Taunton District Court and the Raynham Police Department together with the Massachusetts State Police continue to investigate as prosecutors prepare the case.
