Avalanche Activate Joel Kiviranta, Recall Ivan Ivan for Sharks Game

Overview

• Kiviranta was cleared to return from injured reserve for tonight’s matchup with San Jose, his first game since an Oct. 16 lower-body injury and earlier than initially expected.
• The team recalled center Ivan Ivan from the AHL’s Colorado Eagles, providing a full complement of 12 healthy forwards for the game.
• Recent assignments of Tristen Nielsen and Jason Polin back to the Eagles left open roster spots, allowing the recall and activation without a corresponding move.
• At practice, Valeri Nichushkin wore a red non-contact jersey and left early, and head coach Jared Bednar said Gavin Brindley is still a ways away with no update.
• Colorado is expected to use a fourth line of Zakhar Bardakov between Kiviranta and Ivan against the Sharks.
