Overview
- Alberto “N,” known as “El Virus” and aged 31, was captured in Hidalgo on Friday, June 19 and handed to the Ministerio Público along with doses of drugs seized at the scene.
- Officials say the arrest followed intelligence work and fixed and mobile surveillance that tracked the suspect after he moved from western Mexico City to Santa Ana Hueytlalpan in Hidalgo.
- Authorities identify him as a priority “generador de violencia” and link him to a feminicide, at least five homicides, extortion, robbery and narcomenudeo in Azcapotzalco.
- Security forces from the SSPC, CNI, SSC CDMX, the Fiscalía CDMX and Hidalgo state police took part in the coordinated operation that located him at a recreational center on the Tulancingo–Metepec road.
- Officials say the violence rose after an alliance between his cell and the group called Los Malportados broke down, and prosecutors will need to present evidence while investigators monitor the risk of retaliatory attacks that could affect residents and local businesses.
