Overview
- The Audiencia Nacional, which handed down its ruling on Monday, June 15, 2026, sentenced 11 members of the Seseña DDP cell to prison terms of between one year and six months and four years for belonging to a criminal organization.
- Two defendants were also found guilty of falsifying or putting counterfeit currency into circulation and one defendant received a combined sentence of five and a half years for membership plus falsification.
- Prosecutors withdrew the organization charge against four defendants because they had prior convictions for the same offense and one of those four was separately sentenced to three years for counterfeiting.
- A man charged with the February 5, 2022 killing in Usera was acquitted of homicide for lack of identifying evidence but convicted of active participation in the violent organization and sentenced to four years.
- The Supreme Court moved the case from an ordinary Madrid court to the Audiencia Nacional because of the counterfeiting allegations, creating a procedural precedent and confirming police findings that DDP operates in hierarchal local 'coros' that recruit minors and run drug and extortion-style schemes.
