Overview
- The pilot covers the corridor from Jr. Amazonas to Av. Nicolás de Piérola on a stretch known for severe peak-hour congestion.
- Bus-only lanes will be physically separated by metal bollards and topellantas, replacing New Jersey barriers in a first-of-its-kind setup for the city.
- Sixteen signed stops will be consolidated and shared by regular routes and the Corredor Morado to curb illegal stopping and streamline passenger flow.
- Traffic management will add optimized signal timing, including a dedicated right-turn phase at Abancay and Nicolás de Piérola, with “Carril Bus” signage coordinated with the MTC.
- ATU will carry out night works and step up enforcement against unauthorized vehicles, informal taxis and street vending, with measured results guiding a possible extension toward Av. Grau and projected user time savings of about 10–15 minutes.
