Ather Unveils EL Scooter Platform With AI-Led Software and Faster Charging at Community Day 2025

A platform-first design lets Ather cut complexity to expand its lineup.

Overview

  • The new EL architecture, developed from 26 lakh km of field data, uses a unibody steel chassis with fewer parts to enable 15% quicker assembly and 10,000 km service intervals, and it switches to a swingarm-mounted motor.
  • Ather will build EL-based scooters at its upcoming Factory 3.0 in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, with the first production model targeted around the next festive season or early 2026, while final specs and pricing remain unannounced.
  • AtherStack 7.0 introduces an LLM-powered voice interface tuned to Indian dialects, plus Pothole Alerts, Crash Alerts, ParkSafe, LockSafe, and new remote controls, rolling out OTA to Rizta Z and 450X Gen 3 users.
  • A compact 6 kW fast charger debuts at half the size of the current unit yet double the speed, adding up to 30 km in about 10 minutes on select variants, with LECCS interoperability and some units integrating a tyre inflator.
  • The EL01 family-scooter concept and the Redux moto-scooter concept preview the platform’s range, while EL-specific hardware adds AEBS braking and an integrated Charge Drive Controller; separate reports suggesting sub-₹1 lakh pricing or Battery-as-a-Service are unconfirmed.
