ASUS Raises ROG Xbox Ally X Price in Japan to ¥169,800

Industry reporting ties the Japan-only increase to scarce high-speed memory driving up costs.

Overview

  • On Feb. 17, ASUS Japan increased the Ally X from ¥139,800 to ¥169,800, a jump of ¥30,000 (about $196).
  • The standard ROG Xbox Ally remains ¥89,800 in Japan, and US and UK listings still show launch pricing.
  • The Ally X uses 24GB of LPDDR5X-8000 RAM and a 1TB SSD, versus 16GB of LPDDR5-6400 and 512GB in the base model.
  • ASUS has not given an official reason, with coverage citing higher costs and scarcity of fast memory and storage as the likely driver.
  • Valve has warned of intermittent Steam Deck stock due to component shortages, and Bloomberg has reported Sony may target 2028–2029 for PS6 as Nintendo considers a Switch 2 price increase.
