Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Brings Modern Tech to a Faithful Pirate Remake

Ubisoft rebuilt the 2013 Caribbean adventure on the Anvil engine to modernize visuals, tighten ship combat, rely on equipment upgrades over a skill tree.

Overview

  • The remake is available on PlayStation 5/PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X/S and PC and early reviews praise a major visual overhaul, with underwater scenes singled out as especially striking.
  • Resynced preserves the original action-adventure design by removing a character skill tree and making progression depend on weapons, gear, Jackdaw upgrades and in-game money and materials.
  • Naval combat has been expanded with new ship mechanics and alternate fire modes for every Jackdaw weapon, giving sea battles more tactical options than the 2013 original.
  • The release adds new quests, naval officers and endgame content while introducing quality-of-life changes such as dedicated jump and crouch buttons and less-punitive mission detection.
  • Built in Ubisoft’s Anvil engine, the game offers Fidelity and Performance modes with platform-specific upscaling on PS5 Pro but has reported issues including occasional AI and animation quirks and cutscenes capped at 30 fps.
