Overview
- Assam Rifles intercepted a vehicle at Zemabawk, Aizawl, on Wednesday and seized 9.8 kg of methamphetamine tablets valued at about Rs 29.4 crore.
- The consignment was concealed in the tyres and detected with a sniffer dog, with the vehicle and drugs transferred to the NCB for investigation under the NDPS Act.
- Aizawl resident Lalrinchhana was arrested during the operation.
- Earlier, Mizoram Police and the Excise department seized 11.118 kg in Aizawl’s Khatla locality and about 1.89 kg at the Dapchhuah check post, together valued at over Rs 40 crore.
- Six suspects have been held across the two days, with five produced before the special NDPS court, and initial inquiries indicate the consignments moved from Myanmar toward Assam.
