Assam Reports 32,207 Illegal Foreigners Detected Since 2021, With 1,416 Deported

  • Implementation of Assam Accord Minister Atul Bora presented the figures in a written reply to the State Assembly covering cases through October 31, 2025.
  • Yearly detections were 6,304 in 2021, 8,790 in 2022, 6,703 in 2023, 6,120 in 2024, and 4,290 so far in 2025.
  • Since 1971, Foreigners’ Tribunals have declared 135,901 people non-citizens, of whom 30,130 have been ejected.
  • Border fencing is complete on 228.541 km of Assam’s 267.5 km frontier with Bangladesh, with 4.35 km along the Kushiyara River pending due to objections from the Border Guard Bangladesh.
  • The remaining unfenced areas include riverine stretches across Cachar, Dhubri, South Salmara-Mankachar, and Sribhumi, where the BSF uses CIBMS and boat surveillance.
