Assam Premier League Launched With Eight Franchises and National Broadcast Deals

The state T20 aims to build a professional pathway for emerging Assam cricketers by pairing regionally branded teams with national TV and streaming exposure.

The Assam Cricket Association formally launched the Assam Premier League on Sunday, June 21, unveiling the league logo, trophy and eight franchise identities at a ceremony in Guwahati.
The inaugural teams are Jorhat Stallions, Tezpur Titans, Dibrugarh Warriors, Barak Legends, Nagaon Rangers, Barpeta Braves, Guwahati Royals and Charaideo Sunrisers.
Matches from the first edition will be broadcast on Star Sports and streamed on JioHotstar, giving players statewide visibility on national platforms.
The launch was backed publicly by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and attended by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and ACA officials, with organisers saying player rosters and the full schedule will be announced next.
Organisers present the APL as Assam’s largest franchise T20 aimed at widening the talent pipeline for state and national selection, but the league’s long-term impact will depend on how player recruitment, match operations and fan engagement are executed.
