Overview
- The state launched the programme on Sunday, July 12, 2026, when Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated a centrally supplied incinerator at the 14th APBn in Nalbari and began simultaneous district-level destruction events.
- Officials said the 10-day exercise covers seized contraband valued at Rs 472.51 crore, including about 58.9 kg of heroin, roughly 37,796 kg of ganja, about 1.87 million Yaba/methamphetamine tablets, 229,449 cough syrup bottles and other drugs.
- Assam government figures place multi-year enforcement at roughly Rs 3,227–3,253 crore in total seizures since 2021, with about 3,300 NDPS cases reported and roughly 26,500 arrests cited in some reports.
- The state says the drive signals a five-year intensified crackdown that will lean on central assistance, inter-state and international cooperation, technology and intelligence-sharing, plus stepped-up awareness and rehabilitation measures.
