Overview
- From Feb. 1, the Babu Asoni scheme will pay Rs 2,000 a month to eligible male postgraduate students and Rs 1,000 to undergraduates, positioned as a counterpart to Nijut Moina for girls.
- Eligibility for Babu Asoni excludes students from households earning above Rs 4 lakh annually and children of government employees, with benefits sent via DBT.
- About 37 lakh Orunodoi beneficiaries will receive Rs 8,000 on Feb. 20 as an advance Bohag Bihu payment in place of monthly disbursements during the election period, covering January–April plus a Rs 3,000 festival top-up.
- The government has launched Rs 1,500 monthly assistance for 620 Udasin Bhakats of recognised satras, credited directly to bank accounts, with Majuli hosting the largest share of beneficiaries.
- Ration card holders can buy one kilogram each of masoor dal, sugar and salt for Rs 100 from this month under the ongoing subsidy, the chief minister said.
