Assam Announces 52 New Train Stoppages as Rollout Begins Thursday

Local MLAs will inspect stations to inaugurate the added halts.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled the plan in a late-night live address after repeated requests from residents and elected representatives.
Barpeta Road will receive a Vande Bharat Express halt, and Diphu and Furkating will be added as Rajdhani Express stops.
Services are set to begin with formal inaugurations at designated stations on Thursday.
Additional halts span key long-distance trains at stations including Bijni, Hojai, Jagiroad, Kokrajhar, Pathsala, Sarupathar and Tihu, with further additions in Upper Assam and the hill districts.
Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh will see stops by the Donyi Polo Express and Lachit Express, strengthening inter-state connectivity.
