- Which? reported on Monday that lab tests found tremolite asbestos in two sand art kits that were available on Amazon Marketplace, TikTok Shop and in a kit bought from Asda that also appeared for sale on eBay.
- The Office for Product Safety and Standards updated recall notices after the findings, bringing the total to more than 39 recall notices for asbestos‑contaminated sand products issued since November 2025.
- Amazon, Asda, eBay and TikTok said they have removed the identified listings or launched recalls and are investigating how the products remained available despite earlier warnings.
- Tremolite is a form of asbestos classed by the IARC as carcinogenic to humans, and health risk depends on fibre type, amount and length of exposure because inhaled fibres can cause severe lung disease and cancer.
