Arunachal Pradesh Reports 165 Militants Surrendered Since 2020 in Tirap, Changlang and Longding

The state moved to strengthen rehabilitation with an added ₹6,000 stipend per cadre alongside new infrastructure funding.

  • Home Minister Mama Natung told the Assembly that 165 cadres from various insurgent groups surrendered between January 2020 and December 2025.
  • Longding recorded 77 surrenders, Tirap 47 and Changlang 41, according to the official tally.
  • The surrendered included 50 from NSCN(IM), 37 from an NSCN (Khango–Yung Aung) faction and 35 from the Eastern Naga National Government, with smaller numbers from other outfits.
  • ₹1.4 crore in assistance has been provided under the Surrender and Rehabilitation Scheme, and a Bhismaknagar camp has housed cadres since January 9 last year with 26 receiving short-term vocational training this fiscal.
  • The scheme offers no direct jobs or housing, minor cases may be considered for withdrawal and those accused of heinous crimes will face due legal process, with recent upgrades adding a ₹6,000 stipend per cadre and ₹109.10 lakh for facilities.
