Overview
- The blaze that swept through The Old Mill in Thorpe Marriott early Monday left the roof destroyed and heavy damage throughout.
- Norfolk Fire and Rescue said crews from Earlham, Wroxham, Carrow and Sprowston used an aerial ladder and a water carrier and had the fire out shortly after 7am.
- Police are treating the incident as suspected arson, have sealed off the site, and asked witnesses to contact 101 quoting reference 36/25518/26.
- The landlords, who live in the attached flat, reported a 'firebomb' attack and said they are safe but angry and distressed.
- Operator Greene King said no one was hurt, damage and cause assessments are under way, and the venue, formerly The Otter, will stay shut for now.
