Overview
- Army troops recovered an aeroplane-shaped balloon bearing Pakistan’s flag and the letters PIA in English and Urdu in Gurah Manhasa village in the Pargwal area of Akhnoor and opened an investigation into its origin.
- Police sources say the balloons found in recent incidents have not carried explosives or other material.
- Recent recoveries include a similar balloon in Samba district’s Ramgarh area and ten balloons with Pakistani flags near Sarna Top in Baramulla.
- J&K Police also seized an abandoned drone in fields at Gohled village in Poonch district’s Mendhar tehsil near the Line of Control.
- Security forces have expanded searches and vigilance along the LoC and the International Border, noting past use of drones to drop arms and narcotics.
