Army Launches Data Operations Center Pilot as ‘9-1-1 for Data’

The pilot centralizes data brokering to cut latency for large formations.

Overview

  • The ADOC, which reached initial operating capability on April 3, began a 180-day pilot under Army Cyber Command to centralize data support.
  • The center is open for requests and has already fielded tickets from Next Generation C2 pilot divisions, the XVIII Airborne Corps and the Office of the Surgeon General.
  • Master data brokers will identify trusted sources, build secure cross-cloud links and route information from enterprise systems to commanders, including across joint and coalition partners.
  • It serves divisions, corps and Army service component commands, and is staffed mostly by civilian data and software engineers using in-house capabilities rather than vendors.
  • Leaders moved to create the center after units like the 4th Infantry Division lost targeting tempo to data latency, and the team plans to later manage Army AI models to speed sensor-to-shooter decisions.
