Overview
- Army and Fort Stewart releases identified the soldier as Spc. Adrian Bonsey, 29, and said he was on foot in a training area when he was struck by an M2 Bradley at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday during limited visibility.
- Other Army statements note the service has not yet formally released an official cause of death while investigations continue.
- The probe is being led by the U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center, the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division, and the U.S. Army Transformation and Training Command.
- Maj. Gen. John Lubas called the loss “devastating” and the 3rd Infantry Division said it will support Bonsey’s family, fellow soldiers, and unit as the inquiry proceeds.
- The National Training Center regularly runs large-scale, vehicle-integrated exercises at night and the investigations will focus on establishing facts, identifying any safety or procedural failures, and guiding possible corrective or accountability actions.
