Armed Robbers Hit Manhattan Pokémon Shop During Event, Steal $100,000 in Cards

Police are searching for masked suspects captured on video during the heist.

Overview

  • Three masked attackers threatened staff and attendees with at least one firearm and used hammers to smash display cases at The Poké Court on West 13th Street.
  • The store owner estimates more than $100,000 in cards and merchandise were taken, in addition to about $1,000 in cash and a 27-year-old victim’s phone.
  • Roughly 40 people were inside for a community craft event when the robbery occurred on Wednesday evening, and no injuries were reported.
  • Surveillance footage circulating online shows a gun pointed at bystanders as another suspect, wearing an anime backpack, breaks a case and grabs product.
  • The NYPD says the perpetrators fled and remain at large, as the incident adds to a string of recent high-value thefts targeting card collectors in U.S. cities.
